The weather in Iceland is unpredictable all year around so you must always be prepared for swift changes - sometimes often within a day. Remember to monitor the weather forecast and road conditions closely. Do you need ideas for packing? The trick is layering! Here’s a list of items you should bring.
What to expect
October marks the start of the Northern Lights season in Iceland and so warm clothing (and a good camera) is now no longer optional as it can get cold. Drivers should keep in mind that as the days shorten the sun is low in the sky so driving conditions can be challenging. Please monitor the weather forecast closely as the conditions can change rapidly. Icelanders welcome The First Day of Winter at the end of October.
