What to expect

Midwinter, travellers should expect all weathers so please monitor the forecast closely as conditions can change rapidly. Warm and waterproof winter clothing is necessary. Austurland is home to reindeer and drivers should be on the lookout for them as they often keep to the lowlands during winter. Daylight is sparse and travellers should consider that when planning their days. Chances of catching a glimpse of the Northern lights are good.
