A visit to an eiderdown farm, learning about the eider ducks’ life and nesting, and how the eiderdown is cleaned. Guests can see how the eiderdown is processed through various stages until it is put into quilts and pillows. Visits from 25 May until 3 July. It is necessary to book in advance.
The visit includes an easy walk around the living and nesting areas of the eider ducks, observing how this wild bird is protected and cared for so that it feels comfortable. Other bird species can be seen near the nesting area. It is crucial to tread carefully and listen carefully to the guide throughout the walk.
In the farm's down-cleaning building there is an opportunity to inspect and feel the eiderdown in various stages of the cleaning process and also to see samples of completed products.
Refreshments are served in the guestroom that includes items connected with farming.
