Vopnaskak
Vopnaskak
In Vopnafjörður the town festival Vopnaskak is held yearly on the first weekend of July. The festival focuses on diverse family-friendly activities and events where everyone should find something suitable to see and do.
Throughout the years the locals have been ambitious in creating a festival that they can be proud of. The festival usually consists of events such as concerts, outdoor activities, art and crafts exhibitions, and sporting events. During the evening's locals offer festival-goers to join them on Soup Night where they all eat delicious soup together which is completed with a dance party which lasts through the night.
The last day of the festival is dedicated to Bustarfell Heritage Museum. Locals volunteer to introduce guests to old Icelandic traditions as well as offer them coffee and traditional Icelandic pancakes.
