French Days
C'est la vie
French Days in Fáskrúðsfjörður is a pleasant, family-friendly summer festival which takes place at the end of July every year. Fáskrúðsfjörður is often called the French Town because of its rich history with French sailors. The connection between Fáskrúðsfjörður and France is still visible throughout the town. Every street in the town has, for instance, a French translation shown on its street sign.
So many things to do see and do!
There are plenty of things to see and do during the weekend, f.x. concerts, outdoor activities, and the traditional Icelandic "Brekkusöngur" to name a few. In addition, it is probably the only place in Iceland where you can compete for the title of Iceland's best Pétanque player, which is a french originated sport similar to boccia. The French Days festival emphasizes healthy activities and well-being and hosts a marathon and a cyclothon during the weekend, the Tour de Fáskrúðsfjörður.
