Our business is a family one; we prefer having just a small operation. All we rent out is two rooms in our home and only to one party at a time, so you are sure to be our sole guests. However, your party can include up to five people, since we offer two rooms, one with a double bed or two singles, the other with a single and a double bed or two singles. These rooms share a bathroom. Our goal is to ensure personal attention, as well as service of the highest standard. Included in our price is a traditional Icelandic breakfast. The location is convenient: near Ring Road No. 1 and only about 4 kilometers from the nearest village, Djúpivogur. Not least, our house stands just a few meters from the pristine waters of Hamarsfjörður fjord and offers fantastic views of the ocean. Just watching from our porch, you can observe seabirds and even occasional seals and harbor porpoises. We offer customized, informative tours with a guide to help you get the most out of local birds, reindeer, and culture. Such trips will usually provide you with excellent chances for photographs.

Bragdavellir - Cottages and a restaurant in Hamarsfjordur Bragdavellir Cottages At Bragdavelldir in Hamarsfjordur, east Iceland, we offer accommodation in 2-8 person cottages. Hótel Aldan of Seyðisfjörður consists of three old but extensively renovated houses two of which are located by the little pond in the heart of this quaint old town in the Norwegian Schweitzer-style. Each house encompasses 9 rooms and a dining room as well.  Aldan restaurant has also been renovated and is now focusing even more on local Icelandic ingredients, mostly from the Eastern fjords. The third one, dating from the late 19th. century was used as banking premises for decades but has been renovated all while respecting traditional values. The house has 7 double rooms and 2 triple rooms. Most rooms have space for an additional bed and one room can accommodate a group of six. Flexible design makes it possible to combine some of the rooms to form a "suite" or family rooms for 4 to 6 persons. Next summer we will have 22 hotel rooms and two apartments that can accommodate up to 6 persons each. The apartments are situated in a building that housed the first school in town only a minutes’ walk from the main hotel building.

With its new wing of guest rooms and panoramic sea and mountain views, Hotel Framtid in Djupavogir offers a comfortable stay in beautiful natural surroundings. Eiðar - Hostel & Apartments Eiðar - Hostel & Apartments is a newly renovated and conveniently located accommodation in the historic village of Eiðar, offering an ideal starting point for exploring the natural beauty and culture of Northeast Iceland. The hostel is situated only 13 km from Egilsstaðir. The hostel offers 26 newly renovated rooms with shared bathroom facilities and a fully equipped communal kitchen. Access to the building is very easy, with plenty of parking available. Each room is equipped with a wash basin, a flat-screen TV, and high-speed internet. Check-in and check-out are contactless, and guests receive a code to access their rooms. Eiðar - A historic place The story of Eiðar goes back a long way, with the earliest known mention of Eiðar in the saga of Droplaugarson dating back to around the year 1000. However, it was on June 20th 1881, that it was decided to establish an agricultural school in Eastern Iceland for 24 students. A suitable land was found for the school, and the decision was made to invest in Eiðar. The Eiðar church was included with the land, and in 1886 it was decided to rebuild the church and restore it to its former glory. Throughout the 20th century, the Eiðar church was renovated and still stands today next to Eiðar - Hostel & Apartments. In 1917, it was decided that Eiðar School would become a public school for Eastern Iceland and would be the first of its kind in Iceland, i.e. the first public school established by law, owned and operated by the government. The first school session at Eiðar School took place on October 20th, 1919, and it operated until 1995. The Egilsstaðir College took over the school's operations in 1995 for three years until the school was finally closed down in Eiðar. For a long time, Eiðar was a small but lively town, with a diverse social life, sports, and a vibrant music scene. Eiðar School played a significant and prominent role in the cultural history of Eastern Iceland, spanning over a century, or until 1998, when the school finally closed its doors.

The travel service at Stóra-Sandfell is located 17 km. south of Egilsstaðir, by highway 95. When driving over the road called Öxi (which is the shortest route) or Breiðdalsheiði, the roads lie between Höfn and Egilsstaðir. At our facilities we offer many different types of accomodations, cottages, rooms or at our campsite. We also offer horseriding tours through Sandfell‘s forest and nearby. Many lovely hiking trails are in the area. Our accomodations are close to all of the major tourist-attractions in the Eastern Fjords. The travel service at Stóra-Sandfell has been run by the same family for 30 years and combines experience with eastern hospitality. We put emphasis on having a good and personal contact with our all guests and want to make sure they will be able to enjoy themselves in a beautiful and relaxing enviroment, surrounded by Icelandic nature. We do offer 10 cottages, of different types, but all are build for 2-4 persons. All of them do have a private kitchenette and access to a gas grill. Six of the cottages have private bathrooms but the other four share a bathhouse together. The 3 rooms each have a private enterence and a small private bathroom. All rooms share a kitchen and all have access to a gas grill. The campsite is surounded by the old birch forest and is ideal for families or induviduals with tents or campers. On the site there are dining benches, making it comfortable to eat outside in the nature. A small stream goes through the campsite and is perfect for the younger members of the family to make a splash in. In the restrooms we have toilets, showers and outdoor sinks with cold and hot water. All of the horseriding tours are monitored by a guide. We always try to make sure we find a horse that suits each and every rider well. Before each trip we go over all safety rules and do some practice rounds inside a fence. There is no fixed time for the riding tours, so all tours are planned individually. The minimum number of riders is 2 for each trip and the maximum is 10 riders. Finnsstaðir is a family-run business located about four minutes away from the town Egilsstaðir.  Finnsstaðir offers a few things, open all year round. Guesthouse to rent, horse rental, and the horse stable is always open between 10:00 – 17:00 for a short guided tour through the stable to see the horses, take pictures and meet the locals, but we recommend booking the tour with a bit of notice. From 15. may until 15. September, the petting zoo is open.  Finnsstaðir horse rental offers horses with great temperament and clean beated tölt. The tölt is a natural, fluid gait of the Icelandic horse. Its extraordinarily smooth four-beat gait, which allows the rider an almost bounce-free ride. In Finnsstaðir, you ride out in a small private group with a local guide. Most of the riding tours are about one hour, and the owner‘s goal is to keep everyone safe, give all the guests a good experience and memories to keep as long as you live. Longer trips with experienced riders could be available, but just contact Finnsstaðir and ask for availability. On the farm is a big house to rent with three bedrooms and beds for six people. There are two bathrooms and a hot tub on the platform with a great view. The house is spacious and equipped with all standard modern comfort. Washing machine and dryer, the wifi in the house is very strong, and there is a kitchen to cook in. Finnsstaðir petting zoo is open from 10:00-17:00 every day from 15. may until 15.September. All year round, there are chickens and ducks on the farm and, of course, horses, but during the summertime, it is possible to visit and get to know lambs, calves, pigs, ducklings, rabbits, and guinea pigs.  The animals at Finnsstaðir love people, especially children from all parts of the world.

Post-hostel in Seydisfjordur is a newly opened hostel/guesthouse in the old post office building from the sixties, near the harbor with ocean view. There are 4 double rooms and 2 rooms for 4 people in the hostel. We offer new and comfortable beds. All beds are made, good towels and a shared bathroom. All guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen. Also a washer and clothes dryer. Free wireless internet and plenty of parking space.   

If you plan East Iceland you are welcome to Vinland Guesthouse in Fellabaer a 2 min. drive from the Heart of Egilsstadir. We offer accommodation in the heart of our Móðir Jörð organic farm in Vallanes.  Flat or cottage accommodate 2-4 people with a double bed, kitchenette and private bathrooms with a shower.  The private and calm atmosphere in a beautiful environment. We offer local breakfast from the farm in a newly built café the Aspen House made entirely with wood from the farm.  Shop and restaurant with vegetarian cuisine, lunch and other meals are open from 9-18 daily in the summertime.
